Terrific modern portrait of a maiko or apprentice geisha. She sits very erect, her hands quietly clasped in her lap, her hair adorned with clusters of flowers. She wears a blue kimono with a large pattern, tied with an orange obi. The edges of the cloth are boldly outlined with an energetic black line, a nice contrast to the more delicately rendered face. A striking design that would make a handsome framed display.
