Offered for sale is an antique miniature chatelaine scent bottle of French origin and dating circa 1880. This little bottle measures 4 cm in length and has a disc shape with faceted lenses around the sides. The bottle is made of true cranberry glass with white glass overlay. The cranberry glass has a pink hue.The front and back of the bottle have a central star cut design which masterfully displays the contrasting layers of coloured glass. This antique perfume bottle is fitted with a sterling silver gilt collar with attached hinged ring so that the bottle could be suspended from a chain or chatelaine. Both the collar and the lid have tiny French silver marks.
This fine antique miniature lay down perfume bottle is offered in good condition with minor normal age and use wear but no chips, cracks, or fractures to the glass body, neck and tiny clear glass inner stopper. The lid fits firmly and securely and has no dents or dings. There is some tarnish to the gilt finish of the lid. This is a particularly fine antique bottle for the discerning collector.
